Pick your chicken pieces that you are going to use, preferably with the skin on (will remove it later).

Place in a pot with salt, pepper, Orrington Farms broth base and seasoning, onion powder and garlic powder. Cover with water and boil until tender and pulls apart easily. Make sure the chicken stays covered in the water, this is your base water for the yellow rice, about 1 1/2 hours on a medium boil. Remove chicken from broth and cool, reserving the broth for your rice mix. Once the chicken has cooled enough to handle, start shredding it, removing the skin and any bones from the meat. Strain your broth so that all unwanted items are removed. (bone pieces and skin).

Measure out the amount of broth that you need for the yellow rice mix according to the directions on the package, add your shredded chicken and cook according to the directions on the package.
