Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 16 soft sandwich rolls 1/2 lb butter 3 T mustard 2 T poppy seed 1 T Worcestershire sauce 1 medium onion 1 lb good ham - sliced thin 1/2-3/4 lb American cheese (I like to use Swiss on mine)
|
|
Directions: |
Directions:Melt butter and mix in mustard, poppy seed, Worcestershire sauce, and onion. Mix together (you will have to continually stir this together because it will separate).
Spread about 1 1/2 T of mixture over the rolls. If it seems like too much to spread on 1 piece of roll, divide it between both sides of the bun.
Divide the ham between the 16 sandwiches. Do the same thing with the cheese. Wrap each sandwich in aluminum foil.
Bake 15 minutes at 350º.
These can be frozen and taken out for quick meals. Get out a day before or if you get them out that day, you need to give extra time for the sandwiches to cook (closer to 30 minutes). You want them to be warm, the cheese melted, and the roll possibly just a touch toasted. |

Notes: These taste great!
One of our family favorites. We would make 32 or 48 at a time and put them in the freezer. They were great for quick dinners. We could take them on trips (they are good cold, but much better when warm and cheese melted).
Jeremy, our youngest, started catering when he was 9 years old (that was not a typo!). He adapted this recipe by making his own bread, covering it with the butter mixture, topping it with the ham and cheese, folding it all together and making it into a Stromboli. He catered lunches for a local business and this was the most requested lunch. The people raved over it.
