1 quart jar -

cucumbers, washed and sliced to desired thickness or cut into spears.

1 clove garlic, crushed well
2 Tbl dill seed or dill weed
1 cup water
1 cup vinegar - apple cider or white
4 tsp salt

This is the base recipe. Increase, as needed.

Put garlic and dill in bottom of jar. Boil the water-vinegar mixture and pour over cucumbers packed into jars. Wipe jar edges clean and allow to seal. Let stand 3 to 4 months before eating.
