Ingredients: 1lb(16oz)store bought Pizza dough 2-3 Tbsp olive oil, divided ⅓ cup pizza sauce 1 heaping cup shredded mozzarella ½ cup sliced Pepperoni
Preheat oven to 500°; place cast iron skillet into hot oven for 10 min. Remove heated skillet from oven (carefully, as it will be extra hot!); turn oven down to 400°. Working quickly, coat bottom & sides of skillet lightly with olive oil with a pastry brush. Carefully add pizza dough into skillet; move to fit inside skillet as needed. Lightly brush olive oil on edges of pizza crust. Spread pizza sauce on top, towards edges of pizza, leaving about ¾ inch uncovered at the edges of the dough. Quickly sprinkle cheese on top of sauce. Then spread toppings of choice (pepperoni) on top of cheese. Bake pizza 20-25 min at 400°, until perfectly golden & cheese is melted. After 20 min, watch pizza very carefully for last 5 min to make sure it does not burn. How To Make The Best Cast Iron Pizza Preheat Skillet. Important to preheat cast iron skillet in 500° oven for 10 min before adding dough. It allows dough to crisp on outside of pizza while keeping inside soft and tender. Olive Oil. Olive oil helps to crisp dough BUT also keeps dough from sticking. Can also use avocado oil or melted butter instead. If you use butter for a more buttery crust, we still recommend brushing cast iron skillet with olive oil to guarantee it won’t stick. Room Temperature Dough. Take dough out of refrigerator at least 30 min before. Pizza dough can be out anywhere from 30 min to 2 hrs. Once dough is room temp it is much easier to work with.
