Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 cups self-rising flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1- 12oz can beer
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1 - 8 1/2"x4 1/2" loaf pan, greased

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Measure flour, sugar, and salt into mixing bowl. Stir to blend. Pour in the beer and blend thoroughly. Pour mixture into greased loaf pan. Pour the warm butter carefully over the top of the batter. It will not be absorbed into the batter until baking begins.
Bake the loaf for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven and let sit in pan for 15 minutes. Turn carefully onto a plate or baking rack. Put aside to cool and to allow butter to drift back into the loaf.

**Ginger ale or lemon lime soda can be used in place of beer.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
My daughter Marìa called one day asking for this recipe. A little while later she called back beside herself. While baking the bread, the batter from the bread had rose so much that it was spilling out all over the oven. I asked her to read the recipe back to me to try to figure out what went wrong. When she started to read the ingredient list the problem was quickly found, instead of 1/4 cup of sugar she thought I had said 4 cups of sugar! All in all, she said the bread did not come out to bad just really sweet!
