Apple Dumplings Recipe

4 medium apples, peeled and sliced into small slices
16 Crescent rolls (2 cans)
½ c. chopped pecans (optional)

SUGAR MIX
⅓ c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. allspice

STOVE MIX
½ c. butter
½ c. sugar
¼ c. brown sugar
12 oz. Sprite
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Combine ingredients for sugar mixture, setting 2 Tbsp. aside for topping. Mix the rest with the apple slices. Place apples onto unrolled, individual crescent rolls & roll up sealing gaps as well as possible. Place into greased 13x9.

In saucepan, heat butter and sugars until melted. Remove from heat and stir in Sprite and vanilla. Pour over dumplings and sprinkle with reserved sugar mixture (and pecans).

Bake on lower rack until golden.
Top w/ vanilla ice cream.

Grandma made these once that I remember and they were so good that I copied down the recipe she used and came home and kept making them.
