1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup shortening or butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
2 Tbsp. milk
1 cup raisins (optional)
2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
1/2- 1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Stir flour, soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg together. Set aside. Cream butter, sugars, egg, and milk. Add flour and mix until well blended. Add raisins, oatmeal, and nuts. Place rounded teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet and bake 12-15 minutes at 375゚.

TO MAKE BARS: Make four times the recipe. Grease a large 4-sided cookie sheet. Spread dough evenly and press down. Bake at 375º for 30 minutes or until done. When cool, cut into bars and store in an airtight container.

VARIATIONS: Omit raisins, and add 1/2 cup chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or butterscotch chips.
