12 slices thick bread cut into 1 inch cubes
2 (8 ounce) packages of cream cheese cut into 1 inch cubes
12 eggs beaten
2 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
⅓ cup maple syrup
1 cup white sugar
1 tbsp butter
2 cup fresh blueberries (or raspberries), separated into 1 cup each

Lightly grease a 9X13 baking dish. Arrange half the bread cubes in the dish and top with cream cheese cubes. Sprinkle 1 cup of berries over cream cheese and top with remaining bread cubes.

In a large bowl, mix the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and syrup. Pour over bread cubes and refrigerate over night.

Remove pan 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350º
Cover the pan tightly bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the center is firm and surface is lightly brown.

In a medium saucepan, mix the sugar, cornstarch, and water. Bring to a boil. Stirring constantly, cook 3-4 minutes. Mix in the remaining cup of berries. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the butter. Pour over French toast and serve.
