"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

3 T butter (melted in hot water)
4-5 c flour
1 T salt
1 tea sugar
3 T yeast

Directions:
In a large bowl, mix well 2 c flour, yeast, salt and sugar. Make a well in center and add the water and butter. Mix and continue to add flour around the outside edge of the bowl about a 1/4 cup at a time till dough forms a ball that doesn't stick to your hands. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead, adding more flour under dough, never on top, till dough is smooth and pliable. Shape into 2 loaves. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This recipe is Shannon Schroeder's. This bread has been made at our houses for close to 40 years, and at least once a week when our children were young. It goes with spaghetti, lasagna, salad, and even works for a soup bowl. Can be made into bread sticks, loaves, just about any shape you need.
