1 lb dry black beans
5 pieces uncooked bacon
1/2 onion chopped
4 garlic cloves, LEAVE WHOLE
1 T. cumin
1 T. chili powder
1 t. Tajhin powder (or paprika)
1 T. garlic powder
1 t. lime juice
1 t. onion powder
2 T chicken bouillion granules
1 T. salt
1t. cayenne pepper
2 bay leaves

Rinse and sort beans.
Lay the bacon on the bottom of crockpot. Add remaining ingredients to crock pot. Stir gently. Cover and cook on LOW overnight OR until soft and not chalky.

When soft and not chalky, add salt to taste and more of the seasonings, if desired, to taste.

Remove about 2 c. liquid and discard. If I need to make alot I add a can of refried black beans at this point to firm up and make more.

Using an immersion blender or mixer, mash beans to desired consistency.
