Lo Mein Recipe

1 1/2 T. peanut oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 onion, finely sliced
1 lb. shrimp or chicken (cut up) or steak strips

Veggies to choose from to make 2 cups:

Carrots, julienned
Red pepper, julienned
Snow peas, chopped
Bok choy, chopped
Mushrooms, chopped
Broccoli, chopped

1/2 lb. lo mein
2 green onions, chopped

Sauce:

4 tsp. cornstarch
2 T. dark soy sauce*
2 T. soy sauce
1 T. Chinese cooking wine (Mirin)
1/2 tsp. sesame oil
1/4 tsp. white pepper
1/4 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
*If don't have dark soy sauce, substitute 1/4 c. soy sauce and add 1 1/2 tsp. chicken or beef bouillon.

Sauce: Mix cornstarch and soy sauce until lump free. Add remaining sauce ingredients. Set aside.

Boil lo mein noodles. Set aside.

Heat oil in wok or large skillet. Add onion and garlic, stir 30 seconds. Add meat. Steam and stir until cooked.

Add veggies. Cook 2 minutes. Add sauce. Mix. Add noodles and green onions. Toss another minute until noodles are slick with sauce.
