3 cups of sugar
1 cup of butter (2 sticks)
6 eggs (separated)
2 teaspoons of vanilla
1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
1 cup of sour cream
3 cups of all-purpose flour (sifted) The more you sift, the lighter the flour becomes.
¼ teaspoon of baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300º.

Cream sugar and butter. Beat for about 10 minutes. Add egg yolks one at a time. Blend in vanilla, lemon and sour cream. Add the flour to the butter mixture and mix.

In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold into the cake batter and blend. Pour mixture in to 3 or 4 floured and well-greased cake pans.

Bake for 1½ hours.
