1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
2 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup fine unsweetened coconut, (optional)
3/4 cup + 3/4 cup chocolate chips, for top

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time and beat well.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, (and coconut if you are using it). Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, folding to combine well. Fold 3/4 cup chocolate chips. Spread in a greased 9 inch square baking pan and bake for 40 minutes at 350ºF. (325 for glass bake ware)
Remove from oven and while still hot, sprinkle evenly over the top with 3/4 cup chocolate chips. Let stand for 5 minutes, then spread the melted chips evenly over the surface with the back of a spoon or an offset spatula.
Cool thoroughly before cutting into squares or bars.
