½ C. Crisco
1 C. brown sugar
1 egg
1 C. grated carrots
½ C. seedless raisins
½ C. currants
2 tsp. lemon peel
1½ C. flour
Nuts
½ tsp. soda
1 TBSP water
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg

Sauce for pudding:
1 C. brown sugar
1 heaping TBSP flour
Vanilla
Large chunk butter

Directions:
Directions:
Steam in greased coffee can for about 2 hours. Place can in large kettle with water ½ way up on can. Keep water boiling all the time. Cover kettle.

For sauce for pudding:
Blend flour and sugar together and add 1½ C. warm water and a pinch of salt. Cook on low heat until clear.
