8 oz. Solo Almond Paste
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
12 oz. semisweet chocolate morsels
1 cup toasted almond slivers

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º. Set aside two baking sheets.

Break almond paste into small pieces and plave in a medium-size bowl or container of food processor. Add butter and beat with electric mixer or process until mixture is smooth and creamy.

Add sugars, eggs and almond extract and beat or process until thoroughly blended. (If using food processor, transfer to bowl).

Stir flour, baking soda, and salt until mixed. Add to almond mixture and stir until blended.

Stir in chocolate and slivered almonds.

Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto prepared baking sheets (I use parchment paper) about 1 1/2 inches apart.

Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from baking sheets and cool on wire racks.
