Ingredients:
2 c. Sugar
3/4 c. Milk
Pinch of salt
1/4 c. Butter
1 t. Vanilla
Buttered pan or platter

For chocolate: 3 T. Cocoa

For peanut butter: 3-4 T. peanut butter

Directions:
Directions:
Bring milk, sugar and salt to a boil. (If making chocolate fudge include the cocoa). Boil until soft ball stage. It will boil up high in the pan and cook back down before it gets there. Put drops of the syrup in cold water to check for soft ball. When you can make the ball, take it off the burner. I cook it a little long. I never use a candy thermometer.

After taking it off the heat, add butter and vanilla (if making peanut butter fudge add the peanut butter here). Put the pan in a bowl of cold water and beat until thick but can be poured into the buttered pan.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
When mom would leave for work, she would tell us not to make fudge, but as soon as she left we would make a half a batch so that we could eat it all before she got home. We would be sure to wash everything so she wouldn’t know.
