Ingredients:
Ingredients:
5 cups water
6 cups sugar
1 ½ oz. pure vanil;a
2 oz. freeze dried coffee

1 750 ml bottle grain alcohol (everclear)
1 pint vodka

Directions:
Directions:
In a large pot bring to a boil the 5 cups of water and 6 cups of sugar; simmer for 2 hours then cool.

In another large pot boil 4 cups of water, vanilla and freeze-dried coffee. (This recipe is over 20 years old, so I'm thinking if you want to brew 4 cups of really strong coffee and then add vanilla it's a horse apiece.)

Combine the simple syrup (the sugar and water you cooked for you novices) and the coffee mixture with the booze and put into bottles.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
My friend Barbie Stewart brought a bottle of this as a hostess gift and it is amazing. It will, however knock you smack on your ass because of the Everclear, so watch out.

When I make it, I only use vodka, and forego the Everclear; I go for the taste, not the punch.

According to Barbie, "The longer it ages, the smoother it gets. Different kinds of vanilla, coffee, or vodka affect the taste, but Mexican vanilla isn't so good.
