2 c Brown Sugar
1 c Shortening
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 c Warm Water
1/c c Cold Water
1 tsp Soda in coffee
3 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt
3 1/2 c Sifted Flour
Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening, add sugar, cream well then add eggs and vanilla. Mix until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients and add with the coffee alternately to the creamed ingredients, Mix well. Drop by spoonful on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 of 8-10 min

Frost with confectioners sugar icing.

Variation: By adding 4 T of cocoa to batter mix with a little coffee you can make chocolate cookie. or use sour milk instead of coffee.
