2-3 slices of a good bacon diced 1 chopped onion 1 can of beef broth or stock 1 cup water 4 cups of peeled squash butternut, hubbard acorn or even a pumpkin ( I like butternut) 1 tbsp worcestershire 1/4 tsp hot sauce or more to taste nutmeg for grating

In a soup kettle heat and saute bacon, add onion. cook 5 min. Add beef broth wter and cubed squash simmer 35-40 min. until tender. Put all in blender or food processor and puree. Return to kettle add salt pepper to taste and and water if needed. Serve with grated nutmeg in bowls.
