2/3 cup butter

1/3 cup sugar

2 egg yolks

1 tsp. vanilla

1//2 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups flour

2 more egg whites

3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans


1/3 cup cherry or strawberry preserves to fill center

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together 2/3 cup butter & 1/3 cup sugar until fluffy

Add 2 egg yolks, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1//2 tsp salt - beat well

Gradually add 1 1/2 cups flour, mixing well

Shape into 3/4" balls. Dip in 2 slightly beat egg whites & then roll in 3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans

Place 1" apart on greased cookie sheet. Press down center of each with thumb

Bake 350º for 15-17 minutes. Cool slightly

Remove from pan and cool on rack

Just before serving use 1/3 cup cherry or strawberry preserves to fill center
