Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 lb rutabagas or 2 containers
3-4 carrots or baby carrot equivalent
3-4 potatoes
Stick of butter/parve margarine

Directions:
Directions:
All vegetables should be peeled and cut in approximately 1-inch pieces.

For parve or vegan, use cooking liquid and parve margarine; otherwise you can use milk or cream and butter.

Put rutabagas in largish pot and cover with at least two inches of extra water. (You'll be adding the other vegetables to it. You may also want to add more water from the kettle as you go if it gets too low.) Bring to a boil and cook about 10 minutes. Add carrots, re-boil and cook another 10 minutes. Add potato pieces, re-boil and cook about another 10 minutes. Check that all three vegetables are cooked. Do another couple minutes as necessary.

Drain the vegetables, retaining some of the liquid if you plan to use it. (I usually do.) Either in the pot or a bowl, mash the vegetables together. Add a little of the warm water, milk or cream to soften it as necessary, but not as much liquid as you would for mashed potatoes. Add salt, pepper and butter, half to a whole stick depending on how much vegetables there are and how buttery you want it.
