Preheat oven to 350º
1 (1lb. 2 1/2 oz.) package yellow cake mix
1 (3 3/4 oz.) package vanilla instant pudding mix
6 room temperature eggs
3/4 cup oil
1 cup cream sherry or sweet wine of your choice
1 teas. freshly grated nutmeg
Optional powdered sugar

Combine all ingredients. Mix with an electric mixer about 5 minutes at medium speed. Pour patter into a prepared angel food cake pan (or Bundt pan). Bake in 350º oven for about one hour or until done. Cool in pan 5 minutes before turning out on rack.
Sprinkle with sifted powdered sugar

This is my grandson AJ's favorite cake. We began making it in around 1970. My first recipe came from the Beringers Wine cookbook. We just call it "Wine Cake". We have never used Malvasia Wine from original recipe we usually use Cream Sherry or other liquor of your liking. Kailua is great with a chocolate pudding mix in place of the vanilla and cinnamon in place of nutmeg.
To prepare pan for baking butter the inside completely or spray with a nonstick spray.
