3/4 lb of butter - 1.5 cups
1 1/2 cp sugar
6 eggs
3 cps flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 pd - 1 cp raisins
1/2 pd - 1 cp currants
1/2 cp - candied orange
juice of 1 orange

Directions:
Directions:
Grease tubed pan and flour. Boil rainsins and currants, dry. Cream shortening , sugar and add eggs - 1 at a time. Beat well. Add flour, sifted with baking powder, salt. Alternate with cream. Stir in raisins, currants and candied fruit as outlined or choice.and OJ.

Bake at 325 for 1.5 hrs . Let cook for 5 min before removing from pan.

I have added a basic glaze to it. Not big on fruit cakes but this is a pretty good one.
You could also cook in loaf pans and would take less time.
