1 cup sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda
4 cups flour
1 cup white sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)

Orange glaze
3 tbsp. icing sugar
1 orange

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350º F. Lightly grease large baking sheet.
2. In a small bowl, combine sour cream and baking soda. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt.
4. Cut in butter
5. Stir in sour cream mixture and egg. Mix together until moistened.
6. Add raisins or dried cranberries (optional)
7. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly.
8. Roll or pat into a 3/4 inch thick round. Cut into wedges.
9. Place 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
10. Bake 12 - 15 minutes or until lightly browned on the bottom.
11. Remove from oven but leave on pan while you mix the orange glaze.

Orange Glaze
1. Using the whole orange, grate the peel and set aside.
2. Put icing sugar in a small bowl and squeeze the juice of the orange into the bowl.
3. Stir, you don't want the mixture too thin.
4. Pour glaze over the top of the scones and lightly press orange peel onto each scone. Let set.
