2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup oleo
1/2 cup Crisco
Cream well.

Add:
2 well-beaten eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix well.



Sift together:
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cream of tarter
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:

Add to creamed mixture and work together well. Refrigerate in a covered bowl for 2 – 3 hours or overnight.

Make balls the size of walnuts or smaller, depending on how large you want the cookies. Press down with a fork to 1/4 inch thick, or make a dent in the center and fill with pineapple preserves. Bake at 350 degrees 8 to 10 minutes.
