½ c. regular Crisco

½ c. seedless raspberry jam
1 lg. egg yolk

Directions:
Beat butter, shortening, sugar, yolk and vanilla until light & fluffy.
With mixer at low speed, add flour & salt and mix just until blended.
Divide dough into 4 disks. Wrap & refrigerate until firm (about 2 hrs.
or overnight).

Heat oven to 350 F. Shape each disk into a 12-inch rope. Arrange
2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten ropes slightly to
5/8 in. thickness. Using wooden dowel make a ¼ in. groove length-
wise down center of each rope.

Bake 12 minutes, then remove pan from oven and gently press
grooves again. Fill groves with jam (placed in bowl & stirred until
smooth). Return to oven and bake 8 minutes more until firm & light-
golden brown. Remove from oven and cool on pans 10 min., then
gently cut strips into 1-inch diagonal slices. Transfer to wire racks
to cool completely. Decorate as desired.
