⅓ c. butter
½ c. sugar
½ c. nuts
2 c. canned cherries drained
⅔ c. shortening
1 ½ c. sugar
2 eggs
2 ½ c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
⅔ c. milk
1 c. cherry juice
⅔ c. sugar
1 tbsp. corn starch
whipped cream

Directions:
Directions:
Heat ⅓ c. butter in a pan, sprinkle with ½ c. sugar, ½ c. nuts, 2 c. drained cherries save juice. In a separate bowl, cream ⅔ c. shortening with 1 ½ c. sugar add eggs one at a time to the mixture and beat well. Add 2 ½ c. flour, 3 tsp. baking powder,
½ tsp. salt alternate with ⅔ c. milk. Pour over the first mixture in a pan, bake at 350º for 45 minutes. Turnover on a plate. Serve with sauce of 1 c. cherry juice, ⅔ c. sugar,
1 tbsp. corn starch boil until thick. Cool. Serve with whipped cream on top.
