1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 whole egg + 1 yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 squares bitter chocolate melted
1 12 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup dates, cut up
1/2 cup chopped nuts

FROSTING
1 egg white
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 square bitter chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift flour, baking powder & salt
2. Cream butter and sugar well
3. Add egg yolk & egg-beat until fluffy
4. Add chocolate, vanilla
5. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk
6. Add dates & nuts
7. Drop teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet
8. Bake 375º for 10-15 minutes. Cool. Frost.

Chocolate frosting
Melt butter & chocolate together.
Beat egg white stiff.
Add sugar
Combine & beat until smooth.
Spread atop cookies
