2 garlic cloves, cut in slices
6-7 T. olive oil
2 dried chili peppers, seeds removed and torn in pieces, or 1 tsp chili powder
9-12 oz. peeled cooked or raw shrimp
Pinch of paprika
Toothpicks
Crusty bread, to serve

Directions:

Heat the oil in a frying pan, and add the garlic and dried chilis (if using).
Blot the shrimp with paper towels to remove as much excess water as possible.
Toss in the very hot oil for about a minute, sprinkling them with paprika (and chili powder if using instead of the chili peppers).
Serve them in a very hot dish, with the oil.
Pick up the shrimp with toothpicks and mop up the oil with the crusty bread.
