1 loaf of French bread or cinnamon swirl bread
8 large eggs
2 C half and half
1/2 C sugar
1/4 C packed brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 1/2 C canned pumpkin puree

Topping:
3/4 C flour
3/4 C brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/8 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cube of butter cut into pieces

Directions:

Spray a 9 X 13 pan with cooking spray.
Cut bread into cubes and put into pan.
In a medium sized bowl blend eggs with mixer then add the remaining ingredients (not including topping ingredients. Pour gently over bread and mix gently until all bread is coated. Set aside.

Mix a small mixing bowl all all topping ingredients and using an off on motion with the mixer blend ingredients until everything is incorporated. It should be crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over the bread mixture. Cook covered on 350º for 20 minutes and then remove foil and bake for another 25-40 minutes until middle is set.

Note: I sprinkle half the casserole with chopped pecans before cooking.

Serve with buttermilk syrup.
