1 cup raisins
2 cups water
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp..shortening
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt
1½ cups flour
½ cup chopped pecans (optional)
½ cup coconut (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine raisins and water in a saucepan, bring to boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Add soda and shortening, let cool. In separate bowl mix together all the dry ingredients.
Add raisin mixture to dry ingredients and mix well. Pour into greased 8" square pan and bake at 350ºF for 20-25 minutes.
