1 c. shortening (part butter)
3/4 c. white sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs. beaten
2 Tbsp. hot water
2 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
chocolate chips
walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 º.
Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs, water, vanilla and beat well. Add flour, soda and salt to mixture. Add chocolate chips and nuts.
Bake for 10 minutes until light brown.
