6 oz. hot sausage
1 lb. ground beef
8 garlic cloves, minced
1 jalapeno, chopped
2 Tbs. chili powder
2 Tbs. brown sugar
1 Tbs. ground cumin
3 Tbs. tomato paste
1 tsp. dried oregano
½ tsp. ground pepper
¼ tsp. salt
2 bay leaves
1¼ c. Merlot or other red wine
2 (28-oz.) cans petite diced tomatoes
2 (15-oz.) cans kidney beans, drained

Directions:
Directions:
1. In a large soup pot, brown meats with garlic, some chopped onion, and jalapeno.
2. Add chili powder thru bay leaves and cook for 1 minute.
3. Stir in wine, tomatoes, and kidney beans, bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
4. Uncover and cook an additional 30 minutes.
5. Discard bay leaves. Serve with cheddar cheese and sour cream.
