1 c. raisins
3 eggs
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. chopped apples
2 1/2 T. vanilla
6 c. stale bread
10 T. butter
1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
2 c. milk
grease an 8x8 casserole dish
Preheat oven: 375º

1... cut bread into 1-inch chunks and spread evenly in the bottom of the casserole dish.
add the raisins and apples.
2...in a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread, getting all the bread wet from the mixture.
3...Let the bread sit for 20-25 mins. to soak up the milk and egg mixture
4... Bake for 50-55 mins.
it should be jiggly, but set, the center should rise fully, so if it hasn't yet, it might need a little more bake time.
Remove from oven when done.
5...while the pudding cooks, make vanilla sauce.
melt the butter in a medium saucepan on low heat, the add the sugar, cream and vanilla extract.
6... slowly cook over low heat while stirring until the mixture coats the back of a spoon
7... remove the sauce from the heat and serve warm over bread pudding.
