Ingredients:
Ingredients:
8-ounces semisweet chocolate
1 cup heavy cream
¼ cup light corn syrup
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
1). Chop the chocolate in the bowl of a heavy-duty food processor or you can chop it by hand with a large chef's knife.

2). Combine the cream and corn syrup in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate. Let stand for 8 minutes. Add the vanilla and stir the mixture very gently over low heat until the chocolate melts completely, and the mixture is smooth. Allow the glaze to cool until tepid. Drizzle a spoonful of glaze back into the pan. When it mounds a little, the glaze is ready for pouring over the cake.

3). Place the cake to be frosted on a wire rack set over a roasting pan to catch the drippings. Pour the contents of the saucepan over the middle of the cake. Use a metal spatula if necessary to completely cover the cake. Use a small needle to puncture any air bubbles. Let sit about 1 hour or until the glaze fully sets.

Personal Notes:
This is a simple glaze that is poured over the cake when it has been placed on a wire rack. It's easier to use than a frosting and provides an elegant, glossy look.
