2½ cups mixed candied fruit
1 cup raisins
½ cup brandy
2 eggs
½ cup packed light brown sugar
⅓ cup melted butter
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp vanilla
1½ cup all purpose flour
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Directions:

Soak 2¼ cups of the fruit and the raisins in the brandy at least 12 hours or over night. With a fork, beat eggs with sugar. Blend in the butter, soda, spices and vanilla. Gently stir in the flour, nuts and fruits with the remaining liquid.

Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased baking sheets. Press a piece of fruit into the top of each cookie.

Bake in preheated 375ºF, 190º oven for 15 minutes or until light brown.

This is my husband's favorite Christmas cookie. He likes it better than fruitcake because it's portable and he can sneak a cookie without anyone knowing about it!
