4 eggs, separated
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup sifted cake flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon anise extract

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg whites until stiff. Beat egg yolks slightly; gradually add sugar. Beat until lemon colored . Add vanilla. Sift cake flour with salt, mix, and add anise extract. Beat thoroughly until blended. fold in egg whites.

Line bottom of 9 x 13 inch pan with wax paper. Pour batter into pan. Bake in 375º oven for 25 minutes. When cake is cool,remove from pan and peel off paper. Cut into 1 x 3 inch strips. dust with powdered sugar when cool.
