2 cups sugar
1 stick butter (½ cup)
2 eggs
4 large non-peeled apples, grated
2 cups flour
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. salt
1 cup nuts

Carmel Sauce: 2 sticks butter (1 cup) 2 cups sugar, 1 cup evaporated milk, 2 tsp. vanilla, dash of nutmeg.
Cinnamon whipped cream: 2 cups cream, ¼ -½ cup powdered sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon ½ tsp. vanilla.

Preheat oven to 350º. Combine all ingredients and bake in 9x9-inch pan for 45 minutes. Allow to cool slightly.

Carmel Sauce: Mix butter, sugar and milk in a small heavy-bottomed saucepan until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and nutmeg.

Cinnamon whipped cream. Mix all ingredients and beat to stiff peaks.

To serve, top apple cake with caramel sauce and whipped cream.
