6 quarts popped corn; pop and set aside in a large bowl.

Melt 1 C butter then add:
2 C brown sugar
1/2 C white Karo syrup
1 tsp. salt

Bring to a boil and reduce heat so it doesn't burn. Boil 5 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat.

Add 1/2 tsp. soda and 1 tsp. vanilla. Stir into syrup mixture and mix well. Pour over popped corn in large bowl.

Put popcorn in large paper bag in microwave on full power for 1 minute. Stir then microwave for 1 more minute. Stir again. Dump cooked caramel corn onto parchment on cookie sheet to cool and separate into smaller pieces.

(OR bake on large cookie sheet at 200º for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.)
