Directions:(Proof yeast) 1 cup water and the yeast package with a little sugar.
In a large bowl: 4 c flour, and other dry ingredients. Stir together. To the dry ingredients add in oil and eggs and yeast mixture. Using a mixer, add rest of water and mix until a soft dough is formed. Stir in another 2-3 c flour with a spoon so the dough is not sticky. Put into an oiled bowl or container and turn dough over to grease all sides. Cover and let rise until doubled.
(Roll into rolls, pinching off a piece and rolling into a ball, place in baking pan. Cover and let rise)
Bake 400º F 10-15 minutes.
Dough should keep in a tightly covered container in fridge for about 5 days. |

Notes: This recipe belonged to Patricia Slay's mother, Zula Mae Greenwood Hutto. Zula Mae was in the Beaumont Stake and a member of the Fred Branch for many years. David & Pat Slay were members of the Lake Charles ward for years. David's son Nick and family are members of our ward today, as well as David's sister Joan Beck and her family.
Zula Mae was well known for her tea cakes, rolls and cookies gifting several lucky members each week with some of her baked goodies (usually the ones with their cars unlocked). She did this for many years.
