3 cubes butter (¾ of a pound) softened
2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c sour cream
2 tsp vanilla
3 tsp baking soda
6 c flour
Frosting:
2 boxes of (or a 2 lb bag) powdered sugar
2 cubes butter completely melted
¼ tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla
7-8 T milk (to desired consistency)
Food coloring to a desired color

Directions:

Cream together the softened butter and sugar. Add in the eggs, sour cream, salt, vanilla, baking soda and mix well. Add in 6 cups of flour.

Roll out on well floured surface. Approximately ¼ inch thick. Cut to desired shape, place on cookie sheet.

Bake in pre-heated 375º oven for 7-8 minutes.

Frosting:
Cream together the 2 boxes of powdered sugar with 2 cubes of melted butter, salt, vanilla and 7-8 Tablespoons of milk to a desired consistency.

Add food coloring to desired color.

Megan says this recipe was her great grandma's. Growing up her grandma, mom, and aunts made these at Christmas time in the shape of Christmas trees. Today, Megan's children make them for treat plates to deliver to friends at Christmas. They are messy but make great memories!
