Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/4 - 1/2 cup of each: salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper (powdered), garlic powder
5-6 lbs shrimp (we generally get the 26-40 shrimp/lb size, headed and deveined, shell off makes it easiest to eat)
5 lb potatoes (white or red) (if use large white then need to cut to smaller size)
5 lb sausage (1/2 Italian, 1/2 smoked or Andouille)
15 ears of corn (cut to 1/3s)

Directions:
Equipment:
Propane burner attached to a normal propane tank.
Large pot with basket (mine is 28 qt, stainless steel is best, but otherwise aluminum)

Fill pot with water to about 2/3
heat until boiling
add all spices to the water at any time as it warms up
after boiling starts, cook the spices for 10-15 minutes
using the large basket add the potatoes, corn, and sausage to the boiling water and cook for approx. 15-20 minutes. (it may take 5 minutes or so for the water to get back to boiling)
add the shrimp into the mix (It only takes a few minutes till pink)

remove both the shrimp and veggies by pulling the basket out of the cooking pot
allow to drain
dump veggies and shrimp into large aluminum foil pans (or whatever)

This recipe can be modified to be less spicy with less pepper. Some people like to add Zatarain's seafood spices, chicken broth, lemon wedges and numerous other things.

Personal Notes:
This is a great, fun way to feed a large group of people.

At the family reunion in July 2017 (Grandma's 90th birthday weekend), we did a shrimp boil, using three different pots/setups to feed over 60 people.
