Peppermint Holiday Cookies Recipe

1 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 egg, beaten
3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. crushed peppermint candy canes
3/4 c. powdered sugar
3 tsp. warm water
2 T. crushed candy canes (Optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
Beat the butter and sugar together with electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth
Beat egg into mixture until completely incorporated.
Mix flour and salt into butter mixture until just incorporated
Fold crushed candy canes into the batter just enough to evenly combine
Roll dough into ball, using about 1 T. dough for each ball; arrange on baking sheets
Bake until firm- 8-10 mins.
Allow cookies to cool on sheets for a minute before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Whisk powdered sugar and warm water together in a small bowl until you have s smooth icing.
Dip top of each cookie in the icing and top with additional crushed candy canes, if desired.
Set aside to let icing dry - at least 5 mins.

I like peppermint flavor but not so much the candy canes so this is a great way to use
