1 c. corn meal
1/2 c. flour
1-1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. green onion, chopped very fine (optional)
Vegetable oil for frying
Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, sift and mix corn meal, flour, soda and salt. Add beaten egg, buttermilk, (and onion if desired); mix well. Drop by spoonfuls into deep hot vegetable oil. Fry to golden brown. Makes 10 to 12, depending on spoon size.
