1 c. butter
2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
2-1/2 c flour, sifted 3 times
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Frosting:
1 stick butter, melted
1 lb. box powdered sugar
1 small can evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl, mix soda with buttermilk, set aside. Cream butter, add sugar and melted chocolate. Add eggs, one at a time. Alternately add flour and buttermilk, then add vanilla, and mix well. Pour into 4 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool layers completely before frosting cake.


Frosting:
Melt butter in a saucepan, add powdered sugar. Add evaporated milk and cook until mixture is thick enough to spread. Add vanilla and cocoa powder. Stir to blend until smooth. Spread over layers, then sides and top of cake.
