1 c. butter
1¼ c. powdered sugar
½ tsp salt
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp almond extract
2½ c. flour

Glaze:
1 c. powdered sugar
2-3 TBSP water or milk
Colored sugar and sprinkles

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º. Cream butter, sugar and salt until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and extracts. Gradually beat flour into creamed mixture. Using a cookie press fitted with a disk of your choice, press dough in inches part onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake 6-8 minutes or until set (do not brown). Remove to wire racks to cool. In small bowl mix powdered sugar and liquid to desired consistency. Dip cookies in glaze, decorate with sugars or sprinkles.

These traditional German Christmas cookies are fun to make once you get the hang of the press. Christmas 2017 Savannah made them for her annual Girl Scout Christmas Cookie Exchange with Troop 3100. I miss those girls as I have been either co-leader or helping with the troop since Savannah was in 1st grade all the way through high school graduation!
