3 lb lean pork ribs cut in serving pieces and trimmed of fat
2 tsp salt (or to taste) divided
1/2 tsp pepper ( or to taste) divided
6 medium onions cut crosswise in thirds
2 medium sized red tart apples cored and cut in wedges
2 tsp packed brown sugar
6 medium potatoes peeled, if desired
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Sprinkle both sides of ribs with salt and pepper and place in Dutch oven or heavy kettle. Add onions and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add apples and sprinkle with sugar. Add potatoes and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add water and worcestershire sauce. Bring slowly to a boil. Cover, then simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until ribs are tender.
