¼ c. White Vinegar
¾ c. Milk
¼ c. Shortening
1 c. Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
4 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
½ tsp, Salt
Oil for deep frying
Confectioner's Sugar for dusting

Directions:
Directions:
Stir vinegar into the milk, let stand until thick. In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla until well blended. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Stir into the sugar mixture alternating with the vinegar milk. Roll dough out on a floured surface to ⅓ inch thick. Cut into doughnuts using a doughnut cutter. Let stand for about 10 minutes.
Heat the oil in a large deep skillet to 375º. Fry doughnuts until golden, turning over once. Drain on paper towels. Dust with confectioner's sugar while they are still warm. Serve immediately.
