1 c. Chopped Dates
1 tbsp. Butter
1½ tsp. Baking Soda
1 c. Sugar
¼ tsp. Salt
½ tsp. Cinnamon
¼ tsp. Ground Ginger
1 c. Boiling Water
½ c. Walnuts -or- Pecans, chopped
1⅓ c. Flour

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Butter a 8x8 inch pan.
In a medium bowl, combine dates, butter, baking soda, sugar, salt and spices. Pour the boiling water over the date mixture, stir to combine, and let cool to room temperature. Stir in the nuts and flour. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 24-27 minutes, until set but still quite moist. Bread will just barely begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. Remove from oven and serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
