8 oz self raising flour
pinch of salt
4 oz margarine or butter
1 lb cooking apples, peeled and chopped
4 oz sultanas or raisins
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
4 oz granulated sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Place flour and salt in basin. Rub in fat until like bread crumbs.

Add apples, raisins and sugar.

Beat egg together with milk and add to to make stiff consistency.

Press into greased 8" x 6" tin and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake at 350ºF (180ºC) until golden brown

This recipe is nothing unusual, but was given to me by a neighbour when my children were small. It is very easy and I have used it regularly until this day.
